Zarqa Chamber of Industry Explores Collaboration with the South African Embassy

The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry welcomed the South African Ambassador, H.E. Ms. Tsilani Mokoena. Engineer Fares Hamouda stated that Zarqa is a key hub for national industry due to its diverse range of major industries. These include energy production, with the presence of the oil refinery and power plants, as well as iron, livestock, and agricultural production, in addition to various industrial zones and the free zone.

During the meeting, Hamouda presented the investment opportunities in the governorates of Zarqa and Mafraq, especially with the establishment of the new Zarqa Industrial City and the development area in Mafraq. He invited investors and businesspeople from South Africa to invest in Jordan and take advantage of the various investment benefits, particularly given the free trade agreements, especially with the U.S. market.

Hamouda highlighted significant opportunities for national industries to form partnerships with South African industries, particularly in the field of production inputs, and to benefit from market access in South Africa through the exchange of visits and information between the two sides.

Ms. Tsilani Mokoena, on her part, outlined the available investment opportunities and the mechanism for cooperation in the investment and economic sectors between businesspeople in Jordan and South Africa. She explained the nature of the investment environment in South Africa and highlighted the most important free trade agreements signed by South Africa, most notably the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to facilitate cooperation and strengthen partnerships between businesspeople and industries in both countries through the exchange of visits and bilateral meetings, thereby enhancing the commercial interests of both nations.
