As the genocidal state of Israel approaches its October 27 election, the dehumanization of the Palestinian people has become campaign currency and political license to continue the genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing across Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied West Bank.

Dimitri Diliani, a member of Fateh’s Revolutionary Council and spokesperson for Fateh’s Reformist Democratic Faction, said: “Law for Palestine, a UK-registered legal advocacy nonprofit, has catalogued more than 500 Israeli statements inciting violence or genocide against the Palestinian people, dehumanizing us, advocating collective punishment and calling for ethnic cleansing since the Gaza genocide began in October 2023. Benjamin Netanyahu’s invocation of Amalek, Yoav Gallant’s ‘human animals’ declaration, Isaac Herzog’s assertion that ‘an entire nation’ bore responsibility, Bezalel Smotrich’s calls for ethnic cleansing and colonization of Gaza, and Itamar Ben-Gvir’s campaign to expel the indigenous population have shaped the state of Israel’s political culture and state policy.”

Diliani added: “The same politics now drive the election campaign. On July 14, the Israeli government allocated approximately $434 million, for 34 new colonial settlements in the occupied West Bank. Ten days later, armed settlers carried out a pogrom in the occupied West Bank village of Tell under military protection, and four Palestinians were murdered. Smotrich responded by calling for Palestinian villages to be ethnically cleansed and settlements expanded while seeking reelection.”

“The election in the state of Israel exposes societal values that reward genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and colonial violence at the ballot box. Palestinian unity, steadfastness and organized national struggle remain our path to liberation,” Diliani concluded.
